Frank J. Dykas is the founder of the Firm, which is the oldest established intellectual property law firm in Idaho. Mr. Dykas is a long-time Idaho attorney having, in addition to his patent practice, served as disciplinary counsel for the Idaho State Bar, Twin Falls County Prosecutor, and as a member of the Federal Criminal Justice Act Attorney Panel. Mr. Dykas has purposely restricted the practice to patents, trademarks, copyright, and other intellectual property matters since 1985.
Mr. Dykas’ practice emphasizes patent litigation, licensing, and U.S. and international patenting. He is well-versed in patenting under the Patent Cooperation Treaty and licensing agreements in the United States and overseas.
Mr. Dykas has been a registered patent attorney since 1976. In addition, he is a member of the Idaho State Bar, the Federal District of Idaho, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been admitted to practice before other federal district courts on numerous occasions across the United States. He is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association and the Inter Pacific Bar Association.
Mr. Dykas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of New Haven, a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming, and is a graduate of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. His primary technical emphasis is in mechanical systems, heat transfer, fluid flow, thermodynamics, hydrodynamics, power generation, and food processing. He is also well-versed in information and control systems, including computer software patenting.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Dykas is currently teaching the Intellectual Property Survey course at the University of Idaho, School of Law in Moscow, Idaho.
